1. Who we are
Nonprofit Intelligence is a product of Data Products Factory, itself a product of DataColada. All rights reserved. We package authoritative public-register and government geography datasets from Australia and New Zealand as a connected, searchable intelligence platform covering registered charities, causes, and places in both countries.
2. Data sources and licensing
Charity register and financial information is sourced separately for each country and remains subject to that jurisdiction's own licence — we do not blend or relicense the underlying data:

Community and geographic context. Place-level statistics (population, deprivation indexes, and related community context) are drawn from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (SEIFA and Census data, published under Creative Commons licensing) for Australia, and from Stats NZ (2023 Census, IMD, and SA2 boundary data, published under CC BY 4.0) for New Zealand. Australian and New Zealand deprivation indexes use different methodologies and are not directly comparable to one another — see the relevant place page for each index's own scale and source.
Country data is always kept separate: Australian identifiers (ABN, ACNC registration, SA2, DGR status) are never mixed into New Zealand results, and New Zealand identifiers (CRN) are never mixed into Australian results.
3. How scores are computed
Every score shown on an organisation's page is computed by a deterministic, published formula — never by an AI model. Where a score's methodology is available, an accompanying "How is this calculated?" disclosure shows the exact components, weights, and data inputs used, so you can judge for yourself how much weight to give it.
Australian and New Zealand charities are scored using each country's own available data, and in some cases the same score name is computed differently in each country to reflect what that country's register actually captures — where that's the case, the methodology disclosure says so.
Some dimensions (for example, credibility and transparency scoring) currently rely on data fields that are not yet available in a structured form for both countries, and so are only available for a subset of organisations. Missing data is always shown as such — a blank or "—" — rather than a fabricated zero or default value.
Scores are not independently audited and do not constitute financial advice, legal advice, or an assessment of charitable impact. They are designed to aid initial screening and research, and should be supplemented with review of the organisation's own register entry, financial statements, and other due diligence appropriate to the decision being made.
4. AI-generated content
Some features of this platform use large language models (LLMs) to generate narrative explanations, summaries, comparisons, and due-diligence reports. AI-generated content:
- may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information;
- reflects patterns in the underlying data rather than independent expert judgement;
- is not reviewed or approved by the ACNC, Charities Services, or any government agency;
- should not be relied upon as legal, financial, tax, or regulatory advice.
Wherever AI-generated content appears on this platform, it is labelled with a 🤖 marker. Always verify important claims against primary sources — the ACNC Charity Register, the NZ Charities Register, and the organisation's own financial statements.
5. Accounts, API keys and credits
Some features require a free account and API key; some require credits, purchased in advance through our payment provider. Credits are consumed when you use metered features (for example, AI-generated reports) and are deducted at the rate shown at the time of use. Free allowances, pricing, and credit costs may change from time to time — we'll show current pricing before any paid action.
You're responsible for keeping your API key confidential and for all activity under your account. Do not use the API to circumvent rate limits, resell raw register data outside the terms of the underlying government licences above, or misrepresent AI-generated content as independently verified or professionally audited.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DataColada and Data Products Factory accept no liability for any loss, damage, or adverse outcome arising from use of, or reliance on, information, scores, or AI content on this platform.
This platform is provided as is, without warranty of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Data currency depends on upstream ACNC and Charities Services publication schedules, which are outside our control.
Nothing on this platform constitutes legal, financial, accounting, or professional advice. Decisions relating to charitable funding, donation, investment, compliance, or governance should be made with the assistance of appropriately qualified professionals.
7. Data currency and rescoring
Register and financial data is refreshed as the ACNC and Charities Services publish updated datasets — typically quarterly for register data and annually for financial data, though exact schedules are set by each regulator, not by us. A score change between periods reflects a change in the underlying data and/or the organisation's relative position within its comparison group — a lower score does not necessarily mean an organisation's operations have deteriorated; it may simply mean its peers have improved.
8. Privacy
All charity and place data displayed on this platform is sourced from publicly available government datasets, as described in section 2. We don't collect personal data beyond standard web analytics for visitors browsing the site. If you create an account or use an API key, we store the information needed to operate that account — your email address, API usage, and credit balance/transaction history — for account administration, credit billing, and abuse prevention. We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with third parties except as needed to operate the service itself (for example, our payment processor for handling purchases).
